My sculptures are all inspired by the sea and coast where I live in Hove. I look at the textures of eroded pebbles, drift wood and shells. Also the movement of the water and tides.
All of my sculptures are sculpted in clay, they are then moulded and cast (normally in bronze and resin) to a very high standard in my families sculpture casting workshop, LS Sculpture Casting.com, have a look at the website to see more about the process.
Each sculpture edition is unique as they are finished by hand using several stages before the final cold cast bronze resin with wax patina finish is achieved. These sculptures are of the highest quality finish and great care and time is taken to achieve this.
Whilst a bronze finish has always been the first choice for sculptors, I can provide a variety of finishes such as aluminium, iron or copper. If you would like the sculpture to be cast in an alternative finish then please don't hesitate with your request. I would be happy to arrange this.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Do they weather with age?
A. The sculptures are completely frost-proof making them suitable for the garden. Due to the almost solid bronze outer layer, they do react with the weather and can, as solid bronze, develop verdigris. This can be cleaned off if required by using a small "wash up" sponge with a rough side to it. This will highlight the metal.
Q. What about after care?
A. Do not use strong detergents or chemical cleaners, as this will destroy the patination. It is advisable to polish them with pure bees wax once a year.
Q. Securing the sculpture?
A. The sculptures are made with a threaded nut encapsulated in the base where a threaded rod can be screwed into the base. The sculpture can then be fixed into a pedestal or pushed into the ground to give it stability.
Q. Ordering sculptures?
A. Ordering an additional sculpture in bronze or another finish such as aluminium or rusted iron for example has a lead-time of 6 weeks.

The sculptures are made with a threaded rod screwed into the base and cemented in. This is then bolted onto the slate base if provided with the sculpture.
The sculpture can be fixed using an extra long bolt to be attached to a pedestal, however this needs to be requested.
However if the slate base is placed on a flat non porous surface, I recommend securing it with Museum Wax, which will stop it from being knocked off.
With a spatula scoop out 4 large blobs and simply put them on the surface and push down the slate base and sculpture, giving it a wiggle to position it.
I supply 3cm thick slate bases either 30cm, 20cm or 17cm with my sculptures, which have a hole in the middle 1cm and countersunk on the underside by 1.5cm deep (for the nut attachment) by a diameter of 3cm.
Useful information about how to display your sculpture can be found here:
Some photos show my sculptures displayed on slate-affect planters that have been turned upside down and used as pedestals. They are relatively inexpensive and you can find a variety of stone finishes and sizes. They are also easy to move around. One customer placed a tile, matching in size and colour, on top of an upturned planter to display their sculpture, which looked great. https://www.primrose.co.uk/planters
Here are a few links to pedestals that I have found on the internet, however I'm not able to endorse them. Just copy and paste :-)

This sculpture is EXQUISITE! It is so much more beautiful in person. I love everything about it, and especially the space that has been created within the sculpture. It is like a warm embrace. The texture is so detailed and the sculpture itself becomes alive as the light hits it, as it weathers each day into a unique entity. Kara is very responsive in answering questions and sharing information about her sculptures and their care. The workmanship and artistry are very professional. Packaging was impeccable, and the sculpture arrived early, in perfect condition all the way to South Carolina, USA. It was such a successful venture, that I am buying two more sculptures from her. Her work has been lauded by everyone who has come to my garden to see, and especially by my friend who owns a gallery. I could not be more delighted!✨

The sculpture is gorgeous! I've ordered a pedestal; it will have a central location in our back yard. Thank you!

This is a magnificent piece, so beautiful & well made. Kara was a delight to deal with - very prompt. It arrived in Queensland Australia safe & sound - so well packed. I am delighted with my purchase & can’t wait to build a plinth in the garden for it to shine in all its glory. Thankyou Kara.

We love this sculpture for its quality construction by a true artist and it met our expectations. This sculpture ("Together"), which we think has a beautiful and calming shape, matched the Etsy description. We were a bit hesitant since we were making an overseas purchase; however, it was delivered without any issues, and the seller advised us that any import taxes were included in Etsy's price.
